From a pure car show to an international mobility platform
The first automobile exhibition in Germany took place as early as around 1897. A lot has changed since then – the IAA is responding to the changes in the automotive industry. The concept has been transferred from a pure car show to a mobility platform. The aim is to develop a leading international platform for the mobility of the future.
The focus is not only on automobiles with fascinating technology, but also on sustainable mobility, intelligent transport solutions and dialog formats. Megatrends such as sustainability, mobility as a service (MAAS), electrification, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, sensor technology, smart cities, micromobility, hydrogen (H2) and the high-tech developments required by increasing connectivity all play a role.
In short – the mobility mix that will be of huge relevance in cities and also in rural areas in the future can already be experienced first-hand at the IAA. In line with these developments, this year’s IAA will not only take place in the exhibition halls; city center squares and major traffic axes will also be included for the exhibitions and presentations of the mobility of the future. Startups with their high-tech developments will also get a place on the IAA stage next to the big players.
